Keratin Complex

Keratin Complex....Have you heard of it? If you haven't this is a MUST read!!!

Keratin treatments are the hottest service in Hollywood right now and in local salons. It's the answer to looking like you just walked out of a salon everyday! Yes that means you can have Sexy, Smooth, Shiny hair for 4-6 weeks in a 1 hour service.

The Keratin Express Blowout is my favorite. I am constantly doing them on my clients and to my self as well. This service is great for any hair type and even better for "wavy out of control hair" What's amazing about this product is that it reduces frizz, reduces curl, gives off so much shine, and cuts your blowdrying time down. It lasts 4-6 weeks depending on your hair type and depends on how often you wash your hair.

A lot of my clients ask about the Brazilian Blowout.. This is completely different service. The BB has gotten a bad rep about their product using Formaldehyde on it, how ever the Keratin Blowout has 0% Formaldehyde in their product so beware of the BB if you are worried about the gasses in their product. Another thing about the Brazilian Blowout is that it is more of a permanent service where you will be needing to get touch ups every so often. The Keratin Express Blowout if NOT permanent, it only lasts 4-6 weeks and comes out lightly with each shampoo.

Another question I get is about how this product works. The answer is that it's pretty much a longer lasting deep conditioner. The actual Keratin is a protein found in your skin and nails, by adding that protein it seals down the cuticle of your hair (the top layer of the hair shaft) leaving it smooth and shiny!

This is my hair right after I did the Keratin

And this is my hair washing it and blowdrying it the day after with out even using a flat iron.

(My hair naturally has a bit of a wave and has medium texture/thickness)

I highly recommend this service to anyone!

Happy Valentine's Day!!

This Valentine's Day was a great one...it was a lot of fun. In January I started helping out at a Pre-School that Sean's mom works at. It has been a lot of fun and the kids are so sweet. For kids Valentine's day is all about the cards, candy, and friends. They were so excited for the holiday that I decided to do something special for them! (And of course this was a Pinterest inspired project)

I made heart shaped crayon's for all the kids, and let me tell you...they loved these things, even the parents came up to me saying how cute they were and how kind it was to make these.

I made 28 crayon's and used about 40+ crayons. Here's how they turned out!

The Crayons .97 cents at Target
 The Trays $2.50 at Target
 All chopped up!
Getting ready to go in the oven! Baked at 230 degrees for about 10 minutes. The recipe called for 15 minutes but if you leave them in too long all the colors start to mesh together.
The finished product!!!

After pre-school I rushed home to get ready to go out to dinner with my Valentine! Sean and I went to a Greek Resturant in Santna Row called Thea. OMG!! This place is sooo delicious. We have been there once before and the food was so good that it litterly was the best dinner I have ever had in my life. Yes, it was THAT good.

(The resturant)

We started out with some appitizers. We got Tatziki sauce with pita bread and some Dolmathes. For our entries I got Chicken Souvlaki and Sean got a Rack of Lamb. We were sooo full afterwards we had to get our dessert to go. If I could eat there everyday I would!

We had a pretty low-key night, we were both exhaused from our work days but all in all it was a great Valentine's Day <3

Shopping time!!

This weekend I did some damage...my poor bank account hates me now, but I got some really good stuff!

I have been in dire need of some new foundation. I was putting off buying some because I wasn't sure what kind I wanted. So I headed off to Sephora and got some really cool foundation. I asked the lady for "Something light and preferably something mineral" And she brought me this stuff.

This is Camera Ready by Smashbox. It's a 5 in 1! (gotta love those)
Here are all the things that this little guy does
1. Moisturize
2. Prime
3. Perfects skin
4. Protects (SPF 35)
5. Controls Oil

I Love this stuff. It really does everything it says.. I get an air brushed look just by using only this. Even one of my friends said something to me about how nice my skin looked. I have to admit though that I take very good care of my face (ex: washing my face every morning/night, moisturizing, toning, facials, ect.) so I really don't have much to cover on my face...but this foundation works great for me! I was reading on the box that it works great for a primer for your foundation if you like a lot of coverage.

SmashboxCamera Ready, in Light. $40

I did find this product is quite pricey for only 1oz but I just try not to use a lot.

Along with buying new foundation the lady talked me in to a new foundation brush since the one I was using was like 5 years old...yuck!

I picked up this little fella..
Pro Tapered Foundation Brush #58

This brush if much different from your every day foundation brush, this one is special because it has a pointed tip. The tip helps you get in those hard to reach places such as underneath the eyes, between your mouth and nose, and in between your nose and eyes. You can also use the tip for blending away blemishes. If I would have known about this brush when I started wearing make up 10 years ago I would have purchased this a while ago. Again I thought it was a bit pricey as well for $32 but it's high quality and a good investment.

After walking out of Sephora realizing I just spent $77 on 2 items I went to Target for some bargain shopping. I saw these shoes and instantly knew they were going to be my new favorite summer wedges.

They were only $24!!! I like them because I can wear them to work with out feeling like they are too high. Plus it's made out of material so it's soft on my feet. Now it just needs to be spring/summer so I can wear them!

Have a happy week!

On another note I'm having a hard time sleeping tonight because I'm so excited to be starting at my new salon tomorrow! Yayy!

New Beginnings and Sweet Confessions first give away!

Like I have mentioned in previous posts about change coming and craziness going on I am so happy to say that I have come up on an amazing opportunity to move to a new salon! It is a beautiful busy salon that is directly across the street from my current salon!

I will be making more money and will be getting tons on walk-in's. I'm so excited. As of this coming Thursday I will officially be a team member of Salon Murcel! This really is a great chance for me to grow my business. I've been really focused on ways to get more clients, this weekend I finally made a Facebook Page!
There are also some pictures of my work. Check it out :)

*Favorite Product Of The Week*

This week my favorite product is Shine Define by Sebastian

-Do you like to curl your hair?
- Do you like shiny soft curls?
- Does your hair not hold a curl?

If you answered yes to any one of these questions you need to invest in this product. My hair sucks at holding a curl, so much that I use a 1 inch barrel to get big sexy beach waves. When I use this product my curls don't go anywhere.
This is a wet hairspray/shine spray/thermal protector all in ONE. I part my hair in sections and spray on a 1 inch section of hair then curl the section and YAYYY!! I have a beautifully defined shiny curl!

This is a great product for fine hair. Don't over use this product as it is very sticky so after I spray it I comb it through to distribute the product as well as to break it up.

Shine Define Hairspray  by Sebastian is about $18

*Sweet Confessions Giveaway!*

Sweet Shelby is doing her first giveaway for a blog interview via-email and will post on her blog for all of her followers to see!

Her blog is adorable! Check it out you won't be dissapointed!

Some Weekend Fun!

Like I said in my last post things have been nothing but crazy this year. There has been a lot of bad, sad, happy, decision making, and over all craziness. I also started working 6 days a week with my only day off is Sunday. In spite of that my friends and I decided to go out and let loose to have some plain ol' fun.

We went to the Saddle Rack which is the Bay Area's largest country bar. It is one of my favorite places to go. Why you ask?

- It is an ENORMOUS warehouse in the middle of a industrial business area.
- There are 3 bars inside
- They have a mechanical bull
- A huge dance floor
-A Live band

It has all the ingredients for a good time!

Me and my friends got there and had such a blast. It was a bit of a challenge for Sean because he broke his heel bone snowboarding 2 weeks ago and he was on crutches. It was packed we had a lot of beer and took a lot of pictures.

Started the night off with some shots!
Sean and I

Sean on his crutches with his broken heel :( He did awesome though. I had to carry his beer around while he crutched around. lol

 The Girls!

Me and Amanda!

At one point of the night we were all double fisting the Corona's

Sean found a friend!!! He had a broken foot.

I hope everyone had a great Weekend!

American Idol Season 11

I'm back!! The new year has been so crazy busy with some great opportunities coming up. I'm so excited! I'll blog about it once everything comes together :)

BUT..........Another reason I am excited is because AMERICAN IDOL started tonight! I'm no singer...possibly maybe one of the worst singers alive but it I love to watch!

Anyone else obsessed with this show?

Tonight's show was great. There is more and more talent every year. What makes the show even better are the judges. Steven Tyler cracks me up. My mom and I always joke and say that he looks like a male version of Janis Dickinson. LOL! Jennifer Lopez is honest and I love Randy's humor. I can't wait to see what the rest of season has to bring!

There were 2 people who really caught my eye.

This is Ashlee Altise who was doing a dance called the "Joy hopper" came into the audition room and seemed just kind of like one of those "I don't care" kinda attitude. My mom and I were both like....this girl is going to suck. Well were we so wrong, this girl can SING! I can't wait to hear her sing again in Hollywood.

Then there was this guy.. Phillip Phillips. Must I not say anymore if you watched the show? He was awesome! He took Michael Jackson's Thriller song and made it into a pop/rock song. He was such an amazing voice..I think my mom is already set that he is going to be the winner, but we will see.

It all starts again tomorrow night at 8! We already have it set to record on our DVR. :)

Another Amazing Christmas.

I hope everyone had a special Christmas this year. I can't believe it's over with already!

This year we had a small Christmas Eve/Christmas but it worked out beautifully. Christmas Eve we had at our house and we had a delicious sit down dinner with just Sean and I and both of our parents! It was so much fun! Christmas my whole entire family (about 15 of us) went to the movies and saw the movie "Young Adult" it was funny yet depressing at the same time. After the movies Sean and I headed over to Sean's sisters house for another delicious dinner.

As far as my Christmas Wish List goes, I got nothing on there that I had asked for, but I got spoiled and surprised this year!

Sean got me a Tiffany & Co. Necklace

He also got me a Michael Kors purse and some new Snowboarding gloves. I was very surprised. He has really good taste. :)

I also got
-"Flora" by Gucci perfume. Which smells awesome! It's a citrus smell.
         - Juicy Couture Daisy Earrings
         - Juicy Couture Silver Charm Bracelet Starter
         - Lots of pretty jewelry
         - Pajamas and Socks

It was overall a great Christmas weekend! Now I'm excited for New Years Eve! I am going to a Black and White Midnight Masquerade with open bar and Champagne toast at midnight.

This is my dress that I bought from Forever 21 and it was only $27 bucks! Can't go wrong with that price for a sexy LBD! Along with my dress I did my nails a little early but here's how they turned out.

I used 2 coats of YOUR ROYAL SHINE-NESS by O.P.I
and 1 coat of COME IN FROM THE COAL'D  by Nicole by O.P.I

Happy New Year everyone!

My Favorite Styling Tools!

Styling tools are key to your signature hair style! These are some of my favorite tools I use on my hair and in the salon. It's really important to quality tools on your hair.

There are multiple things you want to look for in styling tools. The key thing you want to look for is, is it ceramic or titanium?
A ceramic iron is great for fine to medium hair it protects the hair from all the heat that is going on. It makes the hair shiny and smooth!
Titanium is a metal it is great for medium to course curly hair. The only time you want to use titanium on your hair is if your hair is unruly and hard to get smooth and shiny. It infuses the hair with moisture and really closes the hair shaft resulting in an extra smooth look.

This is the blow dryer I use at home. It is light weight and has multiple heat settings.

A lot of people ask why would I want 3 different heat settings on a blow dryer? The answer is those 3 different settings do 3 different things.
Hot- The hotter it is the more open your hair shaft is going to be. In order to have soft shiny hair is to have the hair shaft completely closed. In that sense you only want to use this hot heat if you want to take out some of the moisture in the hair when your hair is still very wet. If your hair is very textured and you have a lot of curl you might want to consider using this setting for most of your styling time in order to get the curl out, just remember to use a good heat protector.
Medium- This is the temperature you want to style your hair with. It's hot enough to dry the hair but cool enough to be closing the hair shaft. By using this heat setting is going to keep your hair in better condition than by using the hot setting.
Cool- The cool temperature is a great thing to have on your dryer because its purpose is to really seal down the hair shaft. You want to use this at the end of your drying time. Give your style a cool shot to give your hair extra shine, it also will make your style not fall flat and to make it last longer.

This is my all time favorite flat iron! It's the Paul Mitchell Ion Pro. It is a ceramic iron that has 2 silicone strips on one side of the plates. The strips really grip the hair and smooths it, putting every hair in place. The plates are flexible so if you wanted to use this to curl your hair you can! This is an awesome 100% ceramic iron and you're paying the price for it in this iron. Some cheap irons that you get at the drug store can be dangerous. Most of them are made out of aluminum which does not contain any protection in the hair and also grabs the hair causing frizz and breakage. Even some cheap irons say they are ceramic but don't be fooled as it may only contain 1% to 10% ceramic and the rest is aluminum.

In my opinion the Hot Tools brand has the best irons on the market. They are durable, reliable, and long lasting. It has a cool tip and a swivel cord. The cool tip has a slot to put your finger in so you can have more control in holding the iron while it is hot. The swivel cord keeps the cord long lasting it stays still while the iron is twirling. Hot Tools comes in 2 different plates one Ceramic and the other Titanium. The gold plate is ceramic and the silver plate is titanium. I use the 1 inch ceramic for big curls and I use the 1 1/4 inch for movement and beach waves.

Thermal Protectors
Some days I use all 3 of these styling tools. In order to keep my hair healthy I use a thermal protector. It lays on the hair allowing the heat to penetrate the hair while the heat activated protector is conditioning your hair. My favorite protector is Trilliant Spray by Sebastian. It has 2 parts to it. The first layer is an oil and the second layer is a conditioning treatment with glitter in it. You shake it up to mix the 2 and spray it in sections of your hair. It makes your hair shine like nothing else and makes it soft like nothing else. The glitter is what makes it fun to use what girl doesn't like glitter?

I hope this was useful for you all!!

Awkward Ugly Sweater Party

Tis the season of UGLY SWEATERS!!!!

I went to my local Goodwill store and picked out the ugliest sweater I could find. I was a bit bummed to find out the the stuff at the Goodwill was not so ugly.....except for this white sweater with feathers on the collar and sleeves. I saw the potential and made it even more hideous!

Enjoy the laughs!

Meoww! LOL

Me and some of my salon girls!
